Under the leadership of SUNY’s Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), the COIL Latin America Partnership Program developed course-based partnerships between SUNY campuses and universities in Latin America through a course development program branded as the COIL Latin America Academy (LAA). The COIL Center supported selected faculty and their institutions as they designed and piloted team-taught courses which emphasized experiential and collaborative student learning. These course partnerships may have also served as a basis for the creation of long-term sustainable partnerships between the participant campuses. It is hoped that the ongoing offering of these courses will lead to students from the US at SUNY and Latin America gaining meaningful experiences in cross-cultural international classrooms; thus contributing to greater understanding and cross-border dialogue and exchange between faculty, students, and staff at SUNY and peer institutions in Latin America. The attached report is a comprehensive accounting of the Latin America Academy Partnership Program supported by generous funding from Universidades Santander.
